Favorite Spring Smoothies
Mixed Berry Smoothie
This amazingly scrumptious smoothie recipe that makes two servings exudes the spirit of sprint with its fresh mixed berries and bright red color. All the ingredients should be plentiful in spring, and you can likely pick them up at either your local grocery or even a farmer’s market. Combine all ingredients and mix to preferred consistency. The complete preparation process takes around five minutes making it a great smoothie for harried mornings or for impatient children who want to eat something quickly.
1 ½ cups of either fresh or frozen mixed berries consisting of blueberries, raspberries, strawberries.
¾ cup vanilla Greek yogurt
1 ½ cup of either soy or regular milk
1 tablespoon honey (optional)
Spring Sunshine Smoothie
There is nothing that exudes the feeling of sunshine and summer more than tropical fruits. That’s what makes this Spring Sunshine Smoothie a great way to usher out winter and welcome in the warmer days of spring, eventually giving way to summer. The Spring Sunshine Smoothie pairs oranges and mangos perfectly to create a refreshing, healing smoothie. Since mangos are known for their immune-boosting qualities and vitamin C, which is plentiful in oranges, is also helpful when fighting illness, this smoothie is the ideal way to fight a spring cold. This recipe makes one serving and takes about five minutes of prep work.
6 oz. coconut water
½ cup of either frozen or fresh mangos
1 medium-sized orange. Make sure to peel and remove both the seeds and pith.
4 oz full fat Siggi’s yogurt
½ teaspoon freshly grated ginger
1 cup ice
Spring Green Smoothie
During springtime, dandelion greens and kale are in season, making this the ideal time to try out this Spring Green Smoothie. This nutritious smoothie is extremely healthy, while still being a filling, tasty treat. You can use it for a meal replacement, like a breakfast smoothie, or instead make it for a mid-afternoon pick-me-up or late night snack. This recipe makes around four, 2 cup servings and takes around 20 minutes of prep time.
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup kefir (plain)
3 cups fruit (your choice, but we recommend using a frozen blend of strawberry, mango and pineapple)
1 cup of chopped dandelion greens
3 cups of chopped kale greens
2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey (to taste)
Unlike the previously mentioned smoothies, this one requires you to mix ingredients in a specific order. Follow the steps below to ensure your Spring Green Smoothie turns out as it should:
- Pour the buttermilk and kefir into blender
- Add the chopped greens around ⅓ at a time and pulse a few times
- Add your banana then pulse twice
- Add your frozen fruit and blend until completely mixed
- Add your maple syrup or honey to get the taste you want
